Tim Elsea’s Work Experiences

Tim Elsea became a member of the United States Army in 1983, where he served four years. After he received an honorable discharge for his service, he went on to earn a degree in civil engineering from Clemson University. From this point on, Tim Elsea successfully endeavored to pursue a career as a civil engineer and public servant. In 2005, Tim Elsea moved to Missoula, Montana to serve as the assistant director of public works and county engineer for the Public Works department in Missoula County. Soon after, Lewis County Public Works hired him to be the director of public works in Chehalis, Washington. He sustained this position for six years, and then moved on to serve as the director of public works for Lane County in Eugene, Oregon. Tim Elsea directed, monitored, and oversaw many public works campaigns and initiatives during his time serving as the director of public works for several counties.

Tim Elsea loves to spend time outside and enjoys being one with nature. He has lived in a variety of regions throughout his life and career including Montana, Idaho, and Washington, and relishes the time he spends in the great outdoors. In college, Tim Elsea was a part of the skydiving team at his university. Tim still jumps at the chance to be outdoors and pursues countless activities and athletics including endurance cycling, mountain biking and snowboarding.

How Tim Elsea Saved Mountain Utility Company

Harbor Properties previously owned two subsidiary companies: Mountain Utility Company and Schweitzer Ski Resort. When Mountain Utility Company failed to remain profitable, Harbor Properties hired Tim Elsea to facilitate the division of these properties into two distinct companies. Under Tim Elsea’s leadership, Mountain Utility Company attained compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and earned regulation from the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. Tim helped Mountain Utility Company become profitable again thanks to his expert supervisory role and the development of several ambitious initiatives to improve the lives of residents in the area.

Tim Elsea’s Extreme Sports: Then and Now

There’s been no shortage of excitement in the life of Tim Elsea. In his early days he participated in the Clemson University skydiving team. The team went on to participate in the 1979 Collegiate National Skydiving Championships. After college, Tim Elsea joined the United States Army and learned the value of selfless service and sacrifice as he pushed himself to his physical limits. As a leader in the Oregon Public Works system, Tim met each new challenge with the same tenacity that guided him through his military service and early career. The Early Life of Tim Elsea

Tim Elsea was born on August 8, 1961 in Birmingham, AL, to Thomas Melvin Elsea and Mary Frances Elsea. As a child, he lived in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. Tim attended Palmetto High School in Williamston, SC, from 1976 until he graduated in 1979. That same year he earned a spot on the Dixie Skydivers, Clemson University’s skydiving team. He competed with the team in the Collegiate Skydiving National Championships in 1979. In 1983, Tim made the choice to protect his nation, enlisting in the United States Army for four years. He earned an honorable discharge at the end of his enlistment. After his military service ended, Tim Elsea returned to Clemson to finish his degree in civil engineering. In 1991, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree. In 1995, Tealey's Land Surveying hired him as a civil engineering technician.
