Tim Elsea: Public Works Director and County Engineer for Bonner County Public Works

Throughout the years of 1997 to 2003, Tim Elsea served as the Public Works Director and County Engineer for Bonner County Public Works in Sandpoint, Idaho. During this time, he maintained full responsibility for several divisions and departments including solid waste, noxious weed, construction, waterways, parks, recreation, light duty and heavy equipment upkeep, and road/bridge upkeep. Tim was also responsible for keeping track of all state and federal grants in each department.

Tim Elsea has achieved a wide variety of accomplishments in his life thus far. His commitment to all he tackles enables him to go above and beyond for the organization's he works with. Here are a few of his many achievements. After completing his time in the army, Tim returned to college in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and graduated in 1991. When serving as the director of Lane County Public Works, Tim assisted in the establishment of Oregon's first fatal collision examination team. TimElsea created construction plans and upkeep procedures for thousands of roads and bridges while working as the director of Lewis County’s Public Works. He also negotiated the contract to operate, maintain, and develop the Vader Washing water system while serving in this position. As the director of Mountain Utility Company, Tim helped it reach unprecedented levels of financial success under his guidance and planning.

Tim Elsea’s Work Experiences

Tim Elsea became a member of the United States Army in 1983, where he served four years. After he received an honorable discharge for his service, he went on to earn a degree in civil engineering from Clemson University. From this point on, Tim Elsea successfully endeavored to pursue a career as a civil engineer and public servant. In 2005, Tim Elsea moved to Missoula, Montana to serve as the assistant director of public works and county engineer for the Public Works department in Missoula County. Soon after, Lewis County Public Works hired him to be the director of public works in Chehalis, Washington. He sustained this position for six years, and then moved on to serve as the director of public works for Lane County in Eugene, Oregon. Tim Elsea directed, monitored, and oversaw many public works campaigns and initiatives during his time serving as the director of public works for several counties.

Tim Elsea: Nature Enthusiast

Tim Elsea loves to spend time outside and enjoys being one with nature. He has lived in a variety of regions throughout his life and career including Montana, Idaho, and Washington, and relishes the time he spends in the great outdoors. In college, Tim Elsea was a part of the skydiving team at his university. Tim still jumps at the chance to be outdoors and pursues countless activities and athletics including endurance cycling, mountain biking and snowboarding.

Tim Elsea is a highly energetic and determined person by nature. He loves extreme sports such as skydiving, intense mountain biking, and snowboarding. As a student at Clemson University, Tim Elsea was a part of the skydiving team and even competed in the 1979 Collegiate Skydiving National Championships. Tim has sustained a long career in the public sector and has held several leadership roles as the assistant director and the director of numerous public works departments. He jumps at the opportunity to lend a hand to others and aspires to become a volunteer for the organization Engineers Without Borders to better the life of individuals abroad. Tim lived in several states growing up including South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama. Tim loves to spend time watching baseball and football. His favorite teams are the Atlanta Braves and the Clemson Tigers. Having managed almost $200 million dollars in yearly budgets and over 500 employees, Tim Elsea has demonstrated his ability to
